Description:

The Pian dei Fiacconi refuge is located at the foot of the Marmolada glacier, an excellent support point for the ascent to Punta Penìa along the west ridge via ferrata or along the normal glacier route. The refuge can be reached on foot from the Fedaia pass along path 606 and 606 bis (easier), ascent time about 1:40h along a normal mountain path at high altitude, to be tackled with boots and appropriate clothing, suitable for everyone.

Alternatively you can climb along the wonderful path 619 that starts from Pian Trevisan, from the car park of Villetta Maria hotel, the path is one of the most beautiful of the Dolomites, ascent time about 3 hours. An interesting excursion is the crossing of Marmolada fork to reach the Contrin refuge or the Falier refuge.

The Pian dei Fiacconi refuge has 3 rooms with a total of 25 beds, there are also 70 indoor and 50 outdoor refreshment places.

The winter season at the refuge starts in mid/end of February and lasts until the beginning of May, an optimal period for ski mountaineering trips at high altitude.
